Information: We're On Course To Deliver, Gov Otu Says As Media Team Marks His Birthday
By Ebi COLLINS
Governor Bassey Otu has restated his administration's commitment to his 'People First' agenda of greater prosperity for the state.
The Governor made the assertion, Wednesday, when he received members of his media team who were at his Calabar residence to convey their felicitations on the occasion of his 64th birthday celebrations.
Otu used the opportunity to thank God for the enabling grace, which he said has continued to propel the manifestation of the greater glory that is beckoning on the State, while hoping for the realisation of the yearning and aspirations of the people through good governance.
He further thanked Cross Rivererians, friends, organisations and well-wishers for the outpour of felicitations, prayers and goodwill, describing the gestures as soul-lifting.
The sexagenarian reserved special praise for his media team for carrying out the onerous task of mirroring the activities of government to the public and creating a feedback mechanism for government to feel the pulse of the masses and make informed decisions for the good of all.
He charged the team to rise up to the challenge of correcting the avalanche of misrepresentation peddled by naysayers and enemies of the State, adding that his administration would live up to the social contract it entered with Cross Rivererians.
Earlier in his birthday prayers on behalf of the Media Team, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbeche, drew inspiration from the Book of Malachi 3:16, invoked divine remembrance for Governor Otu, for leading with the fear of the Lord.
Praying further, Ogbeche beseech God for the courage of the Biblical Joshua upon the governor, otherwise known as the 'Sweet Prince,' who is already primed to take Cross River to the 'Promised Land.'
"This is the season of sweetness, may God imbue you with wisdom, grant you guidance and direction to lead the people aright. Today, we join your well-wishers all over the world to say happy birthday in good health, prosperity and wellbeing," Ogbeche prayed.
The event climaxed with a handshake and photograph with all members of the media team amidst gift presentations from organisations, politicians, religious groups, traditional institutions, etc.
