Igbo Community Calabar South has congratulated Sen. Bassey Otu, on his victory at the polls, describing his emergence as the will of the people.
Wishing the Governor God's guidance and protection, the President of the newly-inaugurated Igbo Community Calabar South, Ntufam Orji Ukiwo Agwu, said Otu is coming at a time when the state needs a personality who has capacity and good vision to transform the state and its people.
According to Agwu, the May 29 is a historic in Nigeria’s political firmament and that Otu, being part of history, is an indication that he has contributed immensely to the growth of the Fourth Republic culminating in his election on March 18 governorship polls.
He said: “We wish to use this opportunity to congratulate Sen. Bassey Otu on his emergence as the Governor of Cross River. It showed he was the people’s choice and God sent. So, we call on all Igbo to rally round and support the new administration while also calling on the new administration to take a look at the illegal tolls, taxes and levies imposed on business men in Calabar South.
“Igbo people are law abiding and we promise to partner with the new government in the development of the state. We are glad to inform you that some of our children are equally willing and ready to work with the new government to invest in the state if the right business environment are provided.
“We call on the new administration to revive the state security outfit, Operation Akpakwu, to beef up security within Calabar South. Akpakwu did a great job at inception by fetching out criminal elements, but relapsed along the way, giving way for upsurge of criminal activities.”
