Gov. Otu inherited worn-out State - CPS

The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor of Cross River, Mr Emmanuel Ogbeche has said that Governor Bassey Otu inherited a dilapidated State.
The CPS stated this when he met with the members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Cross River Council in Calabar on Monday.
Ogbeche stressed that the State was badly frazzled that it would warrant the support and collaboration of all to put things in order.
He however noted that the Otu-led administration is poised to turn the fortunes of the state around.
According to him, "Otu inherited a rundown State. It was badly rundown to the extent to show that there was no government in place before now.
"There is no record of anything; approvals were given on WhatsApp messages. It will require a lot to turn the State around and thank God we have a capable and listening governor who is ready to provide the needed leadership."
Speaking further, the CPS solicited for the support of members of the NUJ in the Governor's bid to turn around the fortune of the State for the benefit of all, while also assuring of the Governor's support to the union.
He noted with precision his readiness to give his best to guarantee the governor's confidence to have appointed him as CPS.
"This is id a job I never lobbied for, or made any call nor contacted anyone to secure. The job found me with God's grace and I am ready to do everything to justify that confidence reposed on me by the governor.
"As a member of the union and the immediate past chairman of Abuja council, i will ensure a robust relationship between the governor and the media practitioners in the State," he stated.
On his part, the Chairman of Cross River Council of the NUJ, Mr. Nsa Gill, who congratulated Ogbeche on his appointment, promised that the union and its members would work to assist the CPS succeed in his new role.
