Erei community fracas, stakeholders sue for peace

Stakeholders in Erei, Urugbam, Afono, and Edu communities in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State have appealed for peaceful coexistence among the communities to engender development.
 
The call made during a town hall meeting held at Ipene Town Hall, Biase was presided over by Hon. Emil Inyang, member representing Biase and Akamkpa Federal constituency at the National Assembly.
 
The meeting, which had in attendance traditional leaders and officials of the state government, saw the Urugbam, Afono, and Edu communities tendered apologies to Erei community to pave way for the peaceful coexistence.This gesture aims to alleviate tensions and focus on peace, as some communities still harbor misconceptions.
 
The lawmaker said that the apology was meant to douse tensions and focus on peace, as some communities still harbor ill feelings on the past incidents. He urged the people to remain united and live harmonious for the benefit of their children and Biase a large.
 
Similarly, the member representing Biase at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Francis Ogban, commended the communities for the turnout and their willingness to embrace peace.
 
The Paramount ruler of Biase, HRH Onun Apostle Nicolas Odum, Paramount Ruler of Biase, said the people have a lot to gain for living peacefully and said that the peace meeting has ushered in new era in the council area.
 
The former Council Chairman, Hon. Ada Charles, stressed that forgiveness is crucial for lasting peace and harmony in Erei.
