EDITORIAL: WHY WE CAME OUT

HE BEAGLE NEWS is a weekly community newspaper and online news outlet providing news coverage with focus on the neighbourhood, individuals, suburbs and the metropolis, with Cross River and surrounding states. We understand the feelings of the people and we would give expression to it through this medium.

So we offer a platform for the masses to express their views, opinions, resentments, appreciations and constructive criticism of the policies of government.

Besides the traditional roles of informing and educating the citizenry, we would report news in depth, interpret it, promote entertainment, commerce and business and bring returns on investment.

However, the BEAGLE NEWS is hitting the newsstand at a time the entire media ecosystem, especially print journalism, is currently undergoing drastic changes due to the advent of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and the Internet.

We still believe that the market is large enough for every news organisation to showcase its products and distinguish itself from the crowd. So, in the Digital Age, in which information and news are seen as commodities for audience to buy, we would go the extra mile to serve news in a refreshing, balanced and innovative ways to serve our readers.

We would also pay much attention to the entertainment and social happenings around our milieu in line with the tourism destination point of the state.
