Stakeholders across political divide have endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate for Afikpo North local government, Engr. Timothy Nwachi, ahead of July Ebonyi council election.
The stakeholders, who have endorsed the candidature of Nwachi include Rt. Hon. Iduma Igariwey, representing Afikpo North/Afikpo South federal constituency, Senator Azu Agboti, former senator representing Ebonyi South senatorial district, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, Chairman, Federal Polytechnic Uwana Board, im incumbent chairman, Afikpo North local government, Hon. Uchenna Nnajiofor Ibiam.
Speaking at the APC Chairmanship Election Campaign Flat-off held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Afikpo, Sen. Emmanuel Agboti, who was the chairman of the occasion, said local government is the most important segment of government in the sense that governance touches the grassroot in a democratic setting.
He added that the people's Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has done tremendously well within one year of his administration and the good people of Afikpo can testify to that Nwifuru loves Afikpo.
According to him, the choice of Afikpo daughter as the Deputy Governor and the incoming chairman of Afikpo local government in the person of Chief Engr. Timothy Agha Uduma Nwachi testify to this.
Eulogising Gov Nwifuru and APC family for honouring him by specially inviting him to the occasion, Rt.Hon. Idu Igariwey, represented by Hon. Oluchukwu Ukie, promised to support Gov Nwifuru's administration because he listens to the yearning of the people.
"He is a young man who is so much interested in good governance and human capacity building. I enjoin Afikpo people to always support him Chief Timothy to succeed.
The APC State Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, at the event said: "I encourage Afikpo people to continue with their good works. As far as Ebonyi State is concerned, Afikpo is the second after Abakaliki.
"The history of the creation and liberation of Nigeria won't be complete without mentioning Ezeogo Dr. Akanu Ibiam who is not only one of Nigeria founding father but also one of the founding fathers of Ebonyi State."
The Deputy Governor, who was represented by her husband, thanked the guests and encouraged all to support Chief Timothy Agha Uduma Nwachi to succeed.
Speaking on behalf of Ebonyi state founding fathers,Chief Horri Hyacinth Ikpor, commended the Governor for all he has done in the state and Afikpo in particular.
He equally commended the chairman, Hon. Uchenna Nnajiofor Ibiam, for his good works in Afikpo local government Area and urged Afikpo people to support and encourage Chief Timothy Agha Uduma Nwachi.
In his remarks, Hon. Kingsley Ikoro, applauded Nwifuru and urged Afikpo people to always support his administration and that of the incoming Chairman, Afikpo Local Government Area.
According to him, Chief Timothy is not new in the local government administration he has been and integral part of three past administrations and he has no doubt he will succeed.
On his part, the incumbent chairman, Hon Uchenna Nnajiofor Ibiam, commended all who honoured the occasion especially, the Gov. Rt Hon Bld Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, who was represented by the Speaker, Ebony State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, JP, for gracing the occasion.
He urged all to support the incoming stating that he cannot do it alone.
The Afikpo Local Government APC Chairman, Chief Nicodemus Egwu, enjoined Afikpo people to always support the incoming chairman and the state government, saying "please get your voter's cards handy and cast your votes for APC on July 20, 2024."
Speaking after the party leadership handed over the APC flag to him, Chief Engr Timothy Agha Uduma Nwachi, the APC Chairmanship candidate for Afikpo North, commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for all his good works in the state, describing him as a man of less words whose action speaks for.
He promised to uphold the mandate, saying, "I will run a government that will accommodate all, as well as unite the 12 wards in the local government."

Mrs. Josephine Nwogo (incoming Vice Chairman), and Prof. Nwogo (Commissioner for Market and Park Development).
