Ebonyi: Ivo Council Chairman, Ajah, Lauds Nwifuru Over Payment Of NECO, WAEC Fees For Indigenous Students

Ivo local government area, Chief Emmanuel Ajah, has lauded Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi state over payment of NECO and WAEC fees for indigent secondary school students.
The chairman also commended Nwifuru's decision to pay pension and gratuity to retirees on monthly basis.
Governor Nwifuru had on Friday while receiving reports from the Executive Secretary of local government pensions board, said the government would take over the payment of NECO and WAEC fees considering the increment and difficult times the society are under going.
Recall that NECO and WAEC registration has been increased from N18, 000 Naira to about N34, 000.
He directed the State Commissioner for Education to calculate the number of students who are registering for the examinations in public schools so that we can look at it because It is our duty to serve the people. If we can't pay all, we can pay at least 50% ."
Ivo council chairman, in a statement, noted that the Governor's decision will go a long way in ameliorating the hardship faced by parents and the retiree's in the state.
"Governor Nwifuru through this decision would; Make load easier for parents who ordinarily could not afford to register NECO and WAEC for their children.
"Through this charter of needs mantra of the Governor which this decision exhibits, Rt. Hon. Bldr Francis Nwifuru would succeed in raising educated and equipping the feature generation to stand on their own. A generation that the state would be proud of.
"Also paying pension and gratuity monthly would boast the moral of civil servants in the state. It would create sense of belongings and end untimely death that hunger causes. It would give the retiree's the opportunity to establish themselves while they are still strong and not being liability to their families".
Ajah, however, pledged to support the Governor's initiative by sensitising qualified students to hurry and cue into the offer.
Ajah, who said that in a bid to step down the Governor's good police to Ivo LGA, urged the other council chairmen to take positive actions and steps to ensure that their people enjoy this dividends of democracy.
