Deaf Sports To Receive major Boost - Owan Enoh

The Federal Government has stated its readiness to foster and further develope deaf sports in the country.
The Minister for Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh disclosed government intention while receiving players of the Deaf National Football Team, the "Deaf Eagles", in Abuja, on their return from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Deaf Eagles made a debut at the 4th edition of the World Deaf Football Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where they finished 11th.
The Minister said that it was a thing of pride to see the valiant sportsmen hoist the Nigerian flag for the first time at the Deaf Football Championship noting that there is no greater demonstration of the social inclusiveness of sports than having a deaf team travel to represent Nigeria.
"We are going to work with relevant administrators to foster the development of deaf sport and ensure that deaf sports get an assured place in the National Sports Festival".
"We will further open the door for the addition of deaf sports to the list of events at the National Youth Games in other to harvest raw young talents for the Deaf Eagles" The minister assured.
