CRS Env. Sanitation: ' Clean Up Your Premises or Face the Consequences,' ... Osogi warns.

The Cross River state Commissioner of Environment, Hon. Moses Osogi has warned some Cross Riverians against the habit of shunning the state government's monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, as defaulters will be made to face the sanitation Mobile Court.
Osogi who was speaking through the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Bar. Rosemary Onah handed down the warning while fielding questions from Newsmen in Calabar after monitoring the second Sanitation Exercise for 2025, however, expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance of this month's exercise and lauded residents of 8miles axis of the Calabar Municipality.
On the increased vehicular traffic mostly by Security Personnel, during sanitation hours, the Commissioner promised to liaise with Heads of Security Agencies and Security Commanders in the state on how to streamline operations adding that the law says, 'if you are not on emergency duty don't come out, stay at home and clean your surroundings'.
At NNPC/ Abor axis, the sanitation team observed low compliance of the exercise and disclosed plans for continuous engagement of the Community, Women and the Youths Leaders with repeated visits, dialogue as well as collaborative efforts with the state management agency to clear heaps of refuge found in the area.
"We will dialogue with service Commanders and Security Agencies to address their Personnel on complying with the Sanitation Exercise. While we work out modalities with the state's Waste management Authority, NNPC/Abor Community, Women and Youth Leaders on how to incorporate the area as an integral part of the Cross River Clean status." The team leader emphasised. "
Currently, the Hon. Commissioner for Environment is actually coordinating the entire Central Senatorial District of the state because the exercise is for everyone resident in any part of Cross River.
'I assure you the Supervision and Monitoring of the monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise will soon get to the Northern Senatorial District to enforce compliance," She disclosed.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Adviser on Environment, Hon. Magnus Ntui, adjudged 8miles Residents as the best during this month's Exercise.
During the Supervision, the Sanitation monitoring team met with leaders of the Bassey Akiba Foundation and that of the Calabar Municipal Council with their members working tirelessly along the Murtala Mohammed Highway and some adjoining streets in the municipality.
The Ministry's Supervision team later donated items seized from sanitation offenders to the Uwanse Motherless Babies Home and the Good Samaritan Home for the Aged, all in Calabar while sanitation offenders were convicted and fined.
