Cross RIver: PDP Commences Reconciliation, Consultation Process, Visits Fmr Dep. Gov, Other Stakeholders

The Cross River chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has Kick-started reconciliation and consultation process as part of effort to rebrand the party in the state.
The consultation process commenced with the visits to critical stakeholders of the party by the newly-inaugurated acting chairman, Chief Austin Edibe, and members of the State Working Committee (SWC).
Edibe said the consultation process is aimed at drawing from the wealth of experience of strategic stakeholders as he sets out to reposition the party ahead of 2027 and beyond.
While regretting that the few mistakes made by the party has almost eroded it achievements in the state since 1999, he promised that with the corporation of all, the party will bounce back.
"We must not be downcast with our present opposition status in the state, Cross River remains a PDP state.
"Not only does our past records attest to this, we are holding our well in the northern senatorial district of the state even with the immediate past Governor being from there.
"All we need to do in the remainder two district is to see how we can galvanise our members, reconcile the perceived aggrieved ones and set to process to reposition the party across.
"Our focus will not just be south and central senatorial districts, even the north where we seems to have held sway we be part of the total repositioning and rebranding of the PDP in Cross River.
"With these visits, we are elated and hopeful that we have commenced the process of healing that will ultimately take us back to the good old days of the PDP in the state," he stated.
The former Deputy Governor of the state, Effiok Cobham, former Chairman state PDP, Ntufam Ekpo Okon, former Chairman of Calabar South Local Government, Mr Bassey Ekefre, and the convener of PDP Elders Forum in Cross River, Mrs Eno Oqua, were some of those visited by the party's leadership.
The former Deputy Governor, while commending the initiative, expressed confidence in the capacity of the acting chairman and his team to deliver on their mandate.
He advised him to reach out to all aggrieved members of the party in their quest to repositioning the party, assuring them of his total commitment to the Party at all times.
Like Effiok, Ekefre and Oqua pledged their commitment to assist the leadership in their quest to reposition the party.
