In a bid to revitalize the health sector of Cross River, the State Ministry of Health has opened bids for the revitalization of 82 Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in the state.
The state commissioner for Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk while addressing contractors in the bid opening meeting, admonished potential contractor(s) to put in their best in delivering perfect jobs as their performance will determine their recommendation for more jobs.
He explained that the revitalization is a World Bank-funded Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) Project, which the Federal Government of Nigeria, has received a credit towards improving the utilization and quality of immunization plus and malaria services in select states of the federation and intends to apply part of the proceeds towards the payments for the upgrading of 82 Selected Public Health Centers (PHCs) in Cross River State, tasking eventual bid winners to execute the jobs with high level of professionalism and in line with contractual obligations.
“A good number of PHCs in Cross River State need a total overhaul, we expect the best hands to execute this job that is why we have called for this bidding. The project is a world bank assisted project.
“You can be rest assured of a fair bidding process, whoever will be picked will be somebody who is eminently qualified and we expect the best from him.
“If you are not successful today, do not be deterred, when you register with us as a contractor, you can be called upon anytime when opportunities arise,” the Commissioner said.
Also speaking, the Ministry's Procurement Officer, Mrs Ajie Achu, said the open Bidding will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding (NCB) procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers 2020 (“Procurement Regulation”) and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the Procurement Regulation.
She informed that out of five contractors who got the bidding document, only one submitted a scanned bid security.
In their various responses, the contractors present expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise.
Though they complained of hitches in processing financial documents at various banks due to glitches with bank networks, they promised to deliver the job on time according to specifications if selected.
The bid opening exercise held on Wednesday at the conference room of the IMPACT Project Implementation Unit of the Cross River State Ministry of Health.
