C'River Health Commissioner Advocates Incentivized Systems To Improve Staff Performance In Higher Institutions

Cross River Health Commissioner, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, has emphasized the importance of institutionalizing incentivized systems to boost staff performance in higher institutions. 

Dr. Ayuk who made this advocacy, recently, during the maiden awards ceremony of the College of Medical Sciences at the University of Calabar, opined that human resources are crucial for organizational growth and performance, and incentivized systems can play a significant role in enhancing staff productivity.

The Etung-born Commissioner praised the College of Medical Sciences' efforts to reward retired workers, former management staff, students, sportsmen and women, with exceptional skills, and encouraged other institutions to follow suit.

Speaking further, Dr. Ayuk posited that institutionalizing incentivized systems can have numerous benefits, some of which he mentioned to include, improved staff motivation, increased productivity and better job satisfaction among staff, better organizational performance, among others.

He said to achieve the above, institutions can implement various strategies, such as staff remuneration by providing competitive salaries and benefits to attract and retain top talents; training and development, where opportunities are offered for professional growth and development, as well as recognition and rewards through the establishment of programs to recognize and reward outstanding staff performance.

The public health physician noted that by adopting these strategies, higher institutions in Cross River State and beyond can create a more productive and motivating work environment, ultimately leading to better performance and outcomes. 

Earlier, the the Provost of the College Prof. Ngim Ngim, said the program to incentivize staff and students of the  medical college was conceived to reward hard work and encourage staff and students to commit more to the service of the College. 

The occasion was witnessed by distinguished personalities within the academic community, notably, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Florence Banku Obi and the Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Angela Oyo-Ita.
