C'River Health Commissioner Advocates For Strengthened Data Management, Licensing, SOP In Health System

Cross River Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk has advocated for the strengthening of the quality of services rendered by Health Records Officers' Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN), especially in safer data management measures, licensing and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in health systems.

Dr. Ayuk who made the request, recently, while speaking to members of the Health Records Officers' Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN) who were in his office on a courtesy visit, said bolstering such services has become imperative as there are critical to effective implementation of health services.

"There is no way we can operate without data. Unfortunately, it is not by chance that data management is budgeted at about 5% or even less before now. We hope that a lot would be done to increase the budget line for the improvement of the data system. Interestingly, we have put in place a better budget for 2024 in the state," Ayuk remarked.

Earlier in his remarks, HRORBN's Registrar, Alhaji Babagana Mustapha said the visit was to familiarise with the Commissioner and his Ministry in Cross River State.

Mustapha spoke glowingly of the Commissioner's first months in office, saying: "I thank you for the good job you have been doing since your emergence as Commissioner, I have been hearing good report of your activities from individuals and the press and I congratulate you for that. We will continue to ensure our best in the health sector and our board."

Futher, Mustapha informed that there was an already established committee saddled with the responsibility of ensuring improved  data management system in the sector. He also revealed the ongoing building of a software to be accessed by  students for information technology and electronic data relation.

The Registrar requested  for the employment of members into the service and promotion of those already in the employ of the State Government.
