C'River APC Chieftain, Higgins, Backs Sack Of Eba's Executive, Calls For Support Of Acting Chairman, Alicha.

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), High Chief Higgins Peters, has thrown his weight behind the purported suspension and call for resignation of the incumbent chairman of the ruling party, Alphonsus Ogar Eba, saying people have the right to bring leadership and reject them as the case may be.
In a telephone interview with THE BEAGLE NEWS in the early hours of Monday, Chief Higgins said they don't have to be a congress to remove the Executive Council.
He said: "The people decided to bring them, the people decided to remove them and these are Stakeholders.
"Which people appointed the incumbent chairman? If the chairman came through a congress, when Abdullahi Adamu left, did he leave through a congress? When Adams Oshomole left, did he go through a congress?".
Remember the doctrine of necessity brought by the Senate when President Umaru Musa Yaradua died, it's not strange."
He told THE BEAGLE NEWS that "the constitution of the party is subject to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that the issue is on the sack of the entire Executive Council.
Why make this thing special about the chairman? "It's about the whole Executive Council including the chairman.
They should all vacate their seats because Eba did not take action in isolation".
Higgins pointed to the abysmal performance of the APC in the recently held by- elections and that it's the first time a ruling party in the state would loss both Senate and House of Representatives seats.
According to him, it was embarrassing that the party lost even in the chairman's domain questioning, "do you expect us to congratulate them? No! The party Executive Council as a whole should go".
On towing the path of peace, Higgins said: "When the time comes, the press will not determine what the stakeholders do.
The stakeholders would decide and let the press know. Leave party issues and go for your journalism".
However, Higgins has congratulated the acting chairman of APC, James Alicha Okpamu, and charged him to reach out to all stakeholders and build back lost glory and lost grounds.
While calling on all including security agencies to lend their support to the acting chairman, Higgins advised him to avoid the mistakes of his predecessor.
