CRIRS Boss Charges Assessment Authorities On Performance Efficiency

With a projected five billion naira monthly revenue generation target, the Acting Executive Chairman, Cross River Internal Revenue Service, Prince Edwin Okon, has charged tax Assessment Authorities (AAs) on the need to infuse efficient strategies to enable favourable Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) end result.
Prince Okon gave the charge during his maiden Mid-year Performance Review meeting for the year 2023 with Heads of Units and all the 18 Assessment Authorities across the State, at Belaj Conference Centre, Calabar.
The Acting Executive Chairman said "looking at the records, the performance is good but with the projected target, it is a far cry from what it ought to be and so Assessment Authorities need to reorientate their mindsets to have the perspectives of a sales representative, with the goal to aid government to succeed."
Re-echoing his appeal to His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Out, for allowance increment and ad hoc staff absorption, Okon said these can only be possible when results are palpably evident.
A powerpoint presentation on Integrated Cluster System tagged "A New Approach to Effective Revenue Monitoring: Reconciliation and Enumeration of Tax payers" presented by the Director, Personal Income Tax (PIT), Mr. Victor Okplewu; the AAs January - December 2022, January - June 2023 reviews and July - December 2023 projections and interactive session were the highlights of the meeting.
