Car Dealers Association of Nigeria Pay Courtesy Visit on Otu's Aide

In a demonstration of solidarity and collaboration, the Registered Car Dealers Association of Nigeria, Cross River State Chapter, paid a courtesy visit on the Special Adviser to the Governor on Automobile Technicians and Regulatory Department Chief Ndem Effiong in his office.
The high-level engagement is aimed at strengthening ties between the government and stakeholders in the automobile sector, fostering a more structured and regulated business environment.
Welcoming the delegation, the Special Adviser, Chief Ndem Effiong, provided insight into the core responsibilities of his office, emphasising its role as the state’s regulatory body for automobile-related activities. He outlined key functions, include training, profiling, and monitoring automobile operators to ensure compliance with industry standards and stablishing a comprehensive database of all licensed car dealers to eliminate illegal activities and enhance transparency.
Others are implementing regulatory measures to prevent unauthorized individuals from engaging in car dealership without proper licensing.
The Special Adviser stated that the administration of His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu is fully committed to sanitizing the automobile sector.
He stressed that the government will no longer tolerate an unregulated market where anyone can claim to be a car dealer, adding that only duly registered and licensed dealers will be authorised to operate.
Speaking on behalf of the association, the Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Baba introduced his team and commended the government’s proactive approach in creating the Automobile Technicians Regulatory Department.
He noted that since the tenure of former Governor Donald Duke, this is the first administration to recognize and engage their association, describing it as a significant step toward industry growth.
Alhaji Baba highlighted the association’s strong track record, recalling that when Governor Otu served in the National Assembly, many of the vehicles he distributed to constituents were sourced from their members.
He expressed optimism that the newly established regulatory framework would usher in a new era of stability, growth, and increased government patronage emphasising that the association has the capacity and extensive networks to supply brand-new, zero-mileage vehicles directly to the government
In his response, the Special Adviser reaffirmed the government’s readiness to collaborate with the association, pledging to convey their requests to the Governor for further deliberation. He assured them that a structured, well-regulated automobile sector remains a top priority, as it aligns with the government’s vision for economic growth and security.
As the meeting concluded, both parties expressed confidence in a stronger public-private partnership that will not only enhance the automobile trade but also create a more transparent, efficient, and prosperous business environment for all stakeholders.
