BREAKING ..... C'River PDP, LP Law Makers Set To Defect To APC On Friday

Judex OKORO

THE gale of defection in Cross River state has continued unabated as three lawmakers from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) are set to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The state lawmakers are
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) including Hon. Martin Achadu (Yala 2) and
Hon. Omang Charles Omang (Bekwarra) all of  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and  Hon. Brian Odey (Yala 1) of LP and all from the Northern Senatorial district of the state.

THE BEAGLE NEWS can authouritatively reveal that all arrangements for the defection have been concluded and barring any last minute change the trio of Achadu (Yala 2), Omang (Bekwarra) and Labour  Odey (Yala 1) will cross-carpet on Friday, September 27, 2024.

With the expected defection, APC will now have 23-member  majority in the Assembly with PDP left with only two members namely Hon. Ashakia Pius Ashas Ashakia (Obanliku) and Samuel Abang Ikom 1.

The trio are said to have reached an agreement with the leadership of APC to give them a soft landing even as they have been romancing with APC from the day of their inauguration.

The defectors have allegedly attributed reason for their action to the high handedness and detachment from the party leadership.

They also noted that they want to align with the ruling party for the benefits of their constituents as another reason for their defection.

An impeccable source at the House of Assembly confided in THE BEAGLE NEWS that by the end of the year the remaining two PDP members will defect to ruling APC on the flimsy excuse that they want their constituents to benefit from the dividends of democracy and be part of the ruling party rather than playing opposition.

Recall that the 9th Assemble in the state had an APC- dominated house with 20 members in a 25-member Assembly, with the PDP having  4 members and LP 1.
