A'Ibom NUJ Vows To Monitor Palliatives Disbursement
... Applauds Gov Eno's Transparency

Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council has pledged her readiness to monitor palliatives disbursement process at all levels, in accordance with the guidelines and recommendations presented by the State Palliatives Disbursement Committee (SPDC) in Akwa Ibom, as approved by the State Government.
The union, which is often described as the Fourth Estate of the realm, made their position known in a communique issued at the end of her Monthly State Congress held last Thursday, at the NUJ Press Centre, along Information Drive, Uyo.
According to the communique jointly endorsed by the chairman of the Communique Committee, Comrade Marshal Abia, the state chairman of NUJ, Comrade Amos Etuk, the state secretary of NUJ, Comrade Dominic Akpan and other committee members, commended the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for disclosing the details of items received from the Federal Government, as palliatives to the state without any prompting and also lauded the State Government, for demonstrating transparency and expressed hope that community leaders will be sincere in the disbursement process to the people.
NUJ in the communique, also called on the President of the 10th Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio to use his good offices to ensure that all impediments, including Federal Government's approval are cleared for commencement of construction work on Ibom Deep Seaport.
The communique which reads in part, felicitated prominent sons of Akwa Ibom State on their well deserved appointments in recent time.
"Congress congratulated the underlisted Akwa Ibom sons on their elevation:
a. Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State, Gas Resources.
b. Comrade Ini Ememobong, Commissioner for Information, elected Council Member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR.
c. Mr Victor Antai, appointed into the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, as Executive Director, Projects.
d. Mr. AbasiAndikan Okono, appointed into the NDDC Board as Akwa Ibom representative", the communique added.
NUJ in their resolution at congress, sued for a facelift and maintenance of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, popularly known as the Nest of Champions, especially as the facility had been designated by FIFA to host all matches of the Super Eagles among other resolutions reached at the congress.
