The Chairmanship hopeful in Onna local government area, Mr. Kufre Umoren, to run a people-oriented government and sustainable economic development if elected as the council chairman in the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

Fielding questions from newsmen at the weekend during the just-concluded People's Democratic Party (PDP) Ward congress held at Ikot Akpan Ehsiet, Onna local government Area, Umoren promised to make the difference if people elected him into office. 

According o him, the blueprint is tailored to give succour to the people and promote their sustainable economic growth, opining that there are better days ahead for the entire people of the local government area.

He solicited support from all and sundry within the local government area, assuring that he would not abuse the confidence reposed on him by the people.

He commended the leadership of PDP in the State, especially Governor Umo Eno over the peaceful conduct of Ward congress, adding that the peaceful conduct shows promotion of internal democracy within the party.

He said: "I am really impressed, and the whole process was colourful; you can see that unity and willingness among the people to elect their new ward exco. It's ok.

"PDP is a large family; this is what they call internal democracy on display. I see the party as an inevitable tool to drive democracy in the nation," he said.
