2024 Childrens Day: Orok Duke Emphasizes The Role Of Education and Healthcare In Molding The Future
In celebrating the 2024 Childrens day, the Cross River State NDDC Commissioner Rt. Hon. Orok Duke has called on the society to prioritize education and healthcare as they play a crucial role in shaping the future of the children.
Duke in his statement to mark the Childrens Day which is celebrated on May 27 yearly urged parents, community leaders and the government at all levels to prioritize these areas in a bid to ensure a bright future for every child.
"We have a duty to mould the future and this future will be reflected through our children and as parents we must give our children the education they deserve as the foundation of their upbringing must be given proper credence if we must make meaningful progress." Duke said.
While reflecting on the challenges and uncertainties of the future, the NDDC Rep hinted that the role the parents and society play in moulding the future cannot be overemphasised for as Proverbs 22:6 says "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he grows up, he will not depart from it" so is the responsibility parents and society have in moulding the future through their children.
He however identified the community as another institution that plays critical roles in moulding the child while calling for positive community involvement to support child health care, education as well as advocated for collaborative efforts among schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to create an environment conducive for child growth and development.
"For me, I place great premium on education and healthcare delivery, I believe this are the cornerstones of a thriving society and essential for the well-being and development of children. I will remain steadfast in my commitment to our children's future and I urge well meaning individuals to adopt the same approach for together, we can build a better tomorrow for them.
"Our government must allocate adequate resources to education and healthcare to secure the future of our children, policymakers must prioritize funding and allocate adequate resources for educational and healthcare programs as investing in these areas will yield significant long-term benefits for the country" he added.
The NDDC Rep also lauded the efforts of teachers, healthcare workers, and caregivers who play an integral role in the lives of the children's noting that their dedication, contributions and hardwork are essential to the success and well-being of the younger generation.
