2023 UNICROSS Convention: Dear Alumni, Vote For Inyali Peter; Do Not Sell Your Votes, Mortgage Our Association's Future For A Pot Of Porridge
A young African author and public speaker, Israelmore Ayivor, once said: “Contrary to popular opinion, leadership is not a reserved position for a particular group of people who were elected or appointed, ordained or enthroned. Leadership is self-made, self-retained, self-inculcated and then exposed through a faithful, sincere and examplary life.”
December 12, 2023, is a very significant day for the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Alumni Association. It is important because it has been set aside for members to choose those who will lead the growing Association, after the Eyam Abeng led leadership.
Arising from Ayivor’s postulation above, Dear Alumni, it is worthy to note that to vastly improve Association and truly make it great again, start by choosing better leaders. Do not let the propaganda machineries or other forces make you pick from the people they choose, but instead choose those who are suitably qualified for leadership positions, who have the overall interest of the Asssociation as the core for aspiring to lead.
Without a shadow of a doubt, I tell you, in good authority, that Comrade Inyali Peter is the best man to lead this body of intellectuals at this given time. Inyali, the young scholar and politician brings renewed hope for both the present and future generations.
Ahead of the December 12 Convention, self-serving and overzealous forces will come in their numbers; with fat envelopes to buy your votes. But while you contemplate whether or not to collect those future-mortgaging envelopes, may I give you a grim reminder that those enticing gifts are modern day barter for our common patrimony, liberty and good governance. How can you troth your future and that of generations to come for a pot of porridge? Let this gentle reminder appeal to our consciences to do what is right and salvage our Association from the vice grip of retrogression and mediocrity.
Remember, a vote for Inyali Peter is a vote for the betterment of the Association. Let us rewrite our Association's agenda on December 12, 2023 by voting for Comrade Inyali Peter.
