Exposed, 18 Military Officers Involved In Coupe Against President Tinubu

The military hierarchy has identified about 18 officers that are allegedly mastermind the foiled coup against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Brigadier General Musa Abubakar Sadiq is reportedly the lead figure among the 16 high-ranking officers currently in detention for attempting to unseat the democratically elected government.

Brigadier General Sadiq (Service Number N/10321) is a member of the NDA Regular Course 44 and an indigene of Nasarawa State.

Before this treasonous allegation, Sadiq was already a subject of military discipline. In October 2024, he was reportedly detained for several counts of gross misconduct.

Investigations suggest that Sadiq led a group dominated by the Infantry Corps—the Army’s primary ground combat unit. Out of the 16 suspects, 14 are from the Army, with one representative each from the Navy and the Air Force.

"The findings identified a number of officers whose conduct was inconsistent with the ethics and professional standards required of the Armed Forces," the Defence Headquarters noted in a recent briefing.

While Sadiq is the alleged leader, Colonel M.A. Ma’aji is suspected to have served as the key strategist. Other senior officers in the net include four Lieutenant Colonels and five Majors.

Their involvement reportedly led to the sudden cancellation of the full October 1 Independence Day Parade, as the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) moved to intercept the plotters before they could strike.

The military high command has assured Nigerians that there will be no sacred cows.

All 16 officers are set to be formally court-martialed under the Armed Forces Act to ensure they face the full weight of the law for their betrayal of constitutional authority.
