Akwa Ibom Workers Receive 13th Month Salary Ahead of Christmas

By Inemesit Friday

Akwa Ibom State Government has commenced the payment of the 13th month salary to its workforce, fulfilling a key welfare commitment ahead of the Christmas festivities.

Checks at the Office of the Accountant General confirmed that the payment process began on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, enabling civil servants across the state to adequately prepare for the yuletide season.

The development is in line with the assurance earlier given by Governor Pastor Umo Eno on November 30, 2025, that workers would receive their 13th month salary on or before December 20.

Since the inauguration of the Umo Eno administration in 2023, the payment of the 13th month salary has become a consistent feature of the state’s labour welfare policy. Workers have also benefitted from other incentives and welfare packages introduced by the government, aimed at improving their living conditions and boosting morale.

The timely release of the bonus has been widely welcomed by public servants, who described the gesture as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare and economic stability, particularly during the festive period.

The Akwa Ibom State Government has reiterated its resolve to sustain policies that prioritise staff welfare, noting that a motivated workforce remains central to effective service delivery and the overall development of the state.
