You Have Brought Sanity to Akwa Ibom politics, Essien to Umo Eno

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Chief Ndueso Essien, has stated that Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo, has brought sanity to state politics.

Essien, who stated this at a thank you visit to the people of Eket Senatorial District noted that Governor Eno has brought in sanity in politics and added that he was confident that as a seasoned entrepreneur, he will be different in his approach to governance.

The former minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development assured that the people of the senatorial district will continue to support the Governor to deliver on his ARISE Agenda.

Speaking at the event, the Governor said the last governorship election would not have been possible without the support of the people of Eket Senatorial district.

He said: "We came here to thank the senatorial district. I appreciate you for the votes you gave us. It wasn't a right, but you choose to entrust us with your votes. We are here to appreciate you and show our appreciation.

"Our determination to work and touch lives, is also a way of appreciating you for the votes. We won't take your votes for granted, but put in all our efforts to serve Akwa Ibom State."

He noted that Akwa Ibom has become a destination of choice for conferences, seminars, retreats, tourists and investors, and appealed that the peace and security which has become synonymous with the State must be maintained.

"I will always do things that will always bring peace. Let's calm our nerves and apply wisdom. Our words can elicit peace and could also instigate war," he stated.

The Governor disclosed that work will soon commence at the Orukim to Uyenge road for easy access to the Ibom Deep Sea Port adding that investors were interested in visiting the site only by road.

He also disclosed that work would soon commence on the road from Ikot Ubo leading through Nsit Atai to the Victor Attah International Airport to ease the stress of the people from the senatorial district Speaking on the delayed construction of Nsit Atai-Oron road, he said the project was very dear to his heart, and solution will be proffered soonest.

It would be recalled that the Governor had earlier paid similar visit to Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and will wrap up that phase with a visit to Uyo Senatorial District today.

In their separate remarks, Eket local government chairman, Hon Akan Tommy, Chief Obot Etukafia, Bassey Dan Abia, Ikpoto Okon Osung, Dr. Emmanuel Ekwuwem, Senator Ekong Sampson, Chief Assam Assam (SAN) and others commended the Governor for the visit and promised to continue their support for him throughout his tenure. 

High point of the event was a vote of confidence passed on the Governor for his transformational strides especially in rural development and people - centric approach to governance.
