Tinubu Signs North-West Development Commission Bill Into Law

President Bola Tinubu has signed the North-West Development Commission (NWDC) bill into law.

The bill was sponsored by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin.

Senator Barau commended President Tinubu for acknowledging the challenges faced by the people in the North West zone, saying "it is a body that is going to assist the development of the North-West zone.

“Today is the happiest day of our lives. We have been praying that this commission be established. Now is the time to enhance the wellbeing and development of the North West zone.

“This means that the President has the political will to develop this country. I call on Nigerians to be patient with the President. 

"He has done well for us and we appreciate what he has done. This means that he is a leader to trust” he said.

The North-West zone is made up of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara states.

In the same vein, President Tinubu has also signed the South East Development Commission (SEDC) Bill into law . 

The SEDC Bill was sponsored by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, and will assist in the development of the South-East region which consist of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states.
