The Senator representing the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams has expressed satisfaction with the huge success recorded at his maiden free medical outreach and its huge impact on constituents across the six Local Government Areas of his senatorial district.
The lawmaker, who made this known while speaking to newsmen, recently in Ikom, noted with a sense of fulfillment the positive outcomes produced by the outreach, where scores of residents and constituents of the Central Senatorial District received attention to their varying healthcare needs.
The former Speaker of the Cross River House of Assembly further revealed that with the success of the medical outreach's maiden edition, he and his team are going to look into broadening the programme to include eye care services and provision of corrective glasses, additional Paediatric surgeons for children, as well as frequent health education on drug control and disease prevention.
The unprecedented medical outreach sponsored a whooping over 10,000 beneficiaries, out of which 1,028 were children. The programme also successfully carried out 235 surgeries ranging from Hernia, Appendicitis, Lipoma, Ganglion Cyst.
Other prominent features of the outreach included free drugs, kidney function tests, liver function tests, lipid profile blood sugar checks, blood pressure checks, typhoid tests, malaria tests, hepatitis screening, RVD Screening, and Health Education.
The outreach which had earned Senator Williams glowing plaudits from beneficiaries, community leaders, the religious community, political class, and other leaders of thoughts, underscores the lawmaker's avowed commitment to the well-being, as well as yearnings and aspirations of constituents of the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State.
