PRESS RELEASE: UNICAL VC Commends Tinubu As 262 Students Receive Bursary, Scholarships

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar(Unical), Prof Florence Obi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to students' educational bursary and scholarships.
Prof Obi gave the commendation during the presentation of scholarship award letters to 262 students from the University of Calabar and University of Cross River State( Unicross).
According to Prof Obi, 241 students from Unical and 21 students from UNICROSS benefited from the Federal Government scholarship through the Ministry of Education.
She praised the President's initiative, stating that it has encouraged many students to pursue their academic disciplines and ensured that no Nigerian student is denied access to higher education.
Prof Obi also highlighted the President's initiative on NELFUND loan with a free interest rate, which allows students to apply and repay when they commence their careers.
She advised students to take advantage of the available educational schemes and encouraged them to apply for subsequent scholarships.
Prof Obi said as a way of complementing the President's efforts, no fewer than 68 students had received the Vice Chancellor's scholarship award for their outstanding academic performance.
The Dean, Students Affairs Division, Prof Patrick Egaga, urged the beneficiaries to maintain their high academic standards to be eligible for future scholarships.
He emphasized the importance of hard work, dedication, and perseverance in achieving academic success.
Prof Egaga also encouraged the students to remain focused and committed to their studies, as the scholarship is a privilege and not a right.
The Dean further advised the students to utilize the scholarship opportunity to excel academically and make a positive impact in their communities.
He also reminded them that the university expects them to be good ambassadors and maintain a high level of discipline and integrity.
Prof. Egaga also encouraged the students to take advantage of other scholarship opportunities available, both within and outside the university.
He assured them that the university would continue to provide support and guidance to help them achieve their academic goals.
In attendance at the event was the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Prof Tony Eyang, and the Representative of the Minister of Education, Mrs Calister Ejekwu.
The presentation of scholarship award letters to the beneficiaries was the highlight of the event.
