Presbyterian Church Ordains 11 Eleders

IN an effort to encourage evangelism and promote the work of God in his vineyard 

The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN) St. Peter’s Parish, Ugep urban has ordained eleven ruling elders into their fold. 

Presenting a staff of office to them the minister in-charge of the Parish, Rt. Ukweni Ogban Ukweni, urged them to go out and preach the word of God to the masses and be focus in their doing work.

Ukweni said their selection was based on merit and according to the general assembly of Presbyterian Church of Nigeria doctrine. 

While congratulating them on their ordination as ruling elders of Presbyterian of Nigeria, he advised them to see themselves as servants of God and not as leaders. 

Earlier in his sermon, the guest preacher, Rev. Uwem Etukapan, admonished christians to imbibe to the teaching of our Lord Jesus christ which centre on love and unity rather than infighting in the house of God which according to him has taken the center page in Christaindom. 

The man of God, who took his sermon from the book of 2nd Timothy with theme “Chosen for a time as this,” further advised the congregation and church workers to obey those in corridor of power so as to have God’s blessing.

According to him, the church should be seen as role model in the society rather than be mocked by the society.

Speaking, one of the newly-ordained Elders, Mourita Collins Obeten, commnded the church for the honour done to her family assuring that she will continue to uphold to ethics and doctrine of the church. 

Elder Mrs. Obeten, who further used the medium to thank God for the 24 years marriage anniversary, also thanking God for successful completion of their children as graduate of different field, accelerated promotion and divine health as well as successful retirement of her husband after 35 years of meritorious service.

She promised that the feather added on her will motivate her to work more in God’s vineyard.
