Polling Unit Chairmen Calls On Elected Office Holders To Keep to Their Campaign Promises

By Missang AKPET

A political pressure group, Cross River Southern Senatorial District Polling Unit chairmen, has called out elected public office holders to keep to their pre-election promises to them.

The forum in a statement made public said they have been used and neglected by the political office holders thereby turning them to a laughing stock within the political circle.

According to them, "Since we finished elections, you have forgotten us, because of that, the people we used for the job are embarrassing us.

"Please government should try to remember the polling unit management committee for we are the strong organ of our party" they said.

Speaking on their plight, one of polling units chairmen in Calabar South, who simple gave his name as Micheal Ededem, said:

"I am surprised that after all the promises of some of us getting appointments and all sorts of patronage, nobody even has given me a call let alone asking me how far.

"You even call your senator, Reps and House of Assmebly members they snub you. Sometimes when they pick they would just answer you as if your pestering their lives.

"One of them, let me not mention his name, even told me off that after they paid us as poll units coordinators so why bother them again."
