The State Governor, Sen. Bassey Otu has undertaken an on-the-spot tour of ongoing projects in Calabar, including the construction of a 2km long road network at Nyong Edem in Calabar south.

Otu, while touring the site, expressed satisfaction at the progress and quality of work done, maintaining that his administration was keen on ensuring the state gets the best in terms of infrastructural development.

According to the governor, his decision to visit the project site was to see things for himself and have a first hand information on the situation.

"I came here myself to see the level of progress of this job because I wanted to see things for myself. We will be embarking on surprise visits like this to all ongoing project sites to ensure that contractors do not cut corners in order to maximize profit. We also want to ensure that the job is done according to specification in line with international best practices" the governor said.

Otu also assured of his administration's resolve to improve road networks across the state.

Earlier, Commissioner for Works, Hon. "To see a state governor leave his office to visit us here in Calabar south is something we have never seen before. This is the first time a state governor will be visiting our street. As you can see, the residents are out here to receive him. We know he came to inspect the progress of work, but this visit is also very dear to us and we appreciate him for giving us a good road " said one of the residents identified as Chief Ekpenyong Ibok.
