Olympics: NOC Names Amusan Flag Bearer, Opeyori Captain

Track and field athlete and 100 mters hurdles world champion, Tobi Amusan has been named as Nigeria's flagbearer for the opening ceremony of Paris2024  Olympics, slated for the River Seine on Friday.

The Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC), in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Sport made the announcement on Tuesday morning.

Amusan, the multiple award-winning sprinter, becomes the first athlete from Athletics, since Mary Oyali, 20 years ago in Athens - Greece, to have such honours. 

A statement released by Tony Nezianya, who serves as the press attaché to Team Nigeria, also confirmed the appointment of Badminton player, Anuoluwapo Opeyori as Team Nigeria's general captain in the Paris sports competition.
