It Is Shameful That A Country Like Nigeria Has No Working Refinery - Obi

The Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Chief Robert Asue Obi has said the inability of the federal government to fix the ailing refineries in the country is the reason for the problems in the petroleum sector.

Obi who stated this while speaking with newsmen in Calabar said it is a shameful thing that a country as big as Nigeria cannot boast of a working refinery in the country.

He said the Country has 4 moribund refinaries, 2 in Rivers State, 1 in Warri and 1 in Kaduna  which monies are being budgeted for to be revamped almost every year yet nothing has been done.

"Nigeria is not supposed to be importing fuel, this refineries are there, four solid refineries cannot be revived because of corruption.

"We call on this government to look into the aspect of fixing the refineries, we are tired of stories of turn around, if they fix these refineries most of these complaints we hear about will be a thing of the past" he lamented.
