Housing Commissioner Pledges Synergy To Secure Succour For Yala Fire Victims

The Cross River State Commissioner for Housing, Dr Mrs. Beatrice Igwe has promised to liaise with authorities of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and that of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs in providing the needed succor to victims of a recent fire incident that gutted property worth millions of naira in Okuku, Yala local government.

 Igwe who made the pledge shortly after inspecting site of the Inferno, expressed sadness over the incident and the helpless situation the victims assuring them of government's intervention to ameliorate the pains inflicted by what she described as unfortunate incident.

The Housing Commissioner, commiserated with families affected by the mysterious fire which she noted has brought untold hardship having rendered them homeless and dire need of medicare as well as other essential aids.

 According to an eye witness, the fire disaster lasted for over hour without intervention from the State Fire Service thereby destroying property and cash worth millions of naira belonging to a POS agent.

Recalled that a raging Inferno on January 21st engulfed residential buildings along Glado School road in Okuku, Yala local government area, leaving over forty - five residents including children homeless.

However,no life was lost to the fire outbreak though the cause is yet to be determined
