FG condenms Strike Action, says It's Ego Tripping, Unwarranted , Blackmail
The Federal Government has described the strike action declared by NLC and TUC as ego tripping, unwarranted and an attempt to blackmail government.
A State House release titled "NLC,TUC action not in national interest" signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on information and strategy further said the strike was illegal, immoral, unjustifiable and irresponsible .
The statement maintained that it's at a loss as to why the two bodies "decided to punish a whole country over a personal matter involving the NLC President, Mr. Joe Ajaero whose error of judgement led to assault on him in Owerri".
The statement frowned at the decision to embark on the strike action from midnight today even with the restraining order issued last week by Justice Benedict Backwash Kanyip of the National Industrial Court.
It said that FG does not condone any form of violence and assault on its citizens regardless of status and that it's on record that the matter is under investigation while the Commissioner of Police under whose watch the incident took place has been transferred out of Imo state.
While stating that disrespect to a court order amounted to abuse of privilege and that power should be used to promote collective progress and advance national interest, the release stated "The labour movement has always been a champion of rule of law and respect for judiciary noting that it's a sad irony that the current labour leaders have shown disdain and utter disregard for court order.
