Edo 2024: Diaspora Interested To Correct Mistake of 2020, Says Sadoh
From Imafidon OSAZUA (Benin)
The Deputy Director, Diaspora, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council for the Edo governorship poll, Mr Martins Sadoh, has stated that the 2024 Edo guber election is to correct the mistake made four years ago.
Sadoh said the majority of Edo in diaspora supported the reelection bid of the incumbent governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, with the hope that he will right some of the mistakes made in his first term in office.
He, however, noted that rather than take advantage of the goodwill enjoyed from the people, especially Edo in diaspora who contributed both both financially and otherwise, the Obaseki threw away the goodwill.
The member of the APC campaign council said Edo have no only become more divided as a people, but stagnant in terms of infrastructural development.
According to him, "some of us in the Diaspora invested heavily in the Obaseki re-election project with the hope that things will change for the better , but it only became worst.
"All the investment the Adams Oshiomhole led administration made in the state that ought to be built upon was never to be.
"If roads in the capital city can be this bad, you need to take a drive to roads in the rural areas or outside the capital city to see what am taking about.
"Our schools have become death trap to our children who now learn under the worst condition you can imagine and yet, this government pride itself with EdoBEST.
"Over 80 percent of public schools lacked teachers. This responsibility have been left to our aged parents who now engaged corners and others to teach in these schools for a monthly stipends.
"So much money accruing to the state both from federal allocation, IGR, donor agencies and other sources, no to mention the heavy borrowing, yet the state have nothing to show for this monies.
"Rather than concentrate on governance, Obaseki have been busy fighting anyone who cares opposed is style of governance. He has created a wide gulf between the people. We have never been so decided as a people.
"These just to mention but a few, are the reasons why Edo in diaspora are taken it a step further to be fully involved in this election.
"This time around, we aren't just contributing financially, we are home to partake in rhe entie process."
Sadoh, however said some people may want to argue that Obaseki is no on the ballot, but note noted that he is indirectly on the ballot.
"The PDP candidate and his deputy cannot exonerate themselves from Obaseki's administration, they have been part and parcel of the government from the word go.
"For this reason, we do not expect anything different from them. In short, the PDP candidate have openly told the people that he will continue from where Obaseki stops,"
Sadoh stated. He urged Edo to cast their votes for the APC candidate and his deputy both of who have shown total devotion and well being of their people in their capacity as members of the National Assembly.
