Cross River, Ogun, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom should prepare for 3 Days heavy rainfall NIMET Warns

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has warned residents of Cross River, Ogun, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom states to prepare for heavy rainfall over the next three days.

In its latest bulletin, NiMet also predicted light to moderate rainfall in Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Imo, Abia, and several other states. The agency warned that the southern states expecting moderate to heavy rainfall may experience flash flooding.

NiMet cautioned that the rains may be accompanied by strong winds, which could pose risks to weak structures, trees, and masts. The public is advised to avoid driving through floodwaters due to the danger of strong undercurrents.

Additionally, the agency recommends that residents disconnect electrical appliances before the rains begin to reduce the risk of electrical hazards.

Other potential dangers highlighted include slippery roads and reduced visibility during downpours-both of which could severely disrupt road traffic.

NiMet urges the public to remain alert and take necessary precautions as the rainy conditions persist.
