The Niger Delta Development Commission has flagged-off a one year internship programme tagged NDDC Youth Internship Scheme (NYIS).
The scheme which is meant for the 9 states that make up the Niger Delta Region is aimed at empowering youths of the region in a bid to address socio-economic challenges and bringing about positive change processes within the region.
Speaking with newsmen in Calabar, the state NDDC Commissioner Rt. Hon Orok Duke said the programme is billed to empower 10,000 between the ages of 18 to 45 in the Niger Delta States.
He explained that to be eligible for the NDDC Youth Internship Scheme, applicants must: Be between the ages of 18 and 45, reside in one of the Niger Delta states, have at least a secondary school certificate, show interest in acquiring new skills or enhancing existing ones, beneficiaries will select their choice of place for the internship, which means you get to choose a preferable location for your internship.
According to him, each intern will receive a stipend of N50,000.00 for 12 months of this phase adding that the programme is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
Duke however called on youths of Cross River State to take advantage of this opening which will end on the 31st of August.
