UNICROSS Alumni Association Lauds Gov Otu On Approval For Establishment Of Medicine Faculty In State-owned Varsity

The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Alumni Association has lauded Governor Bassey Otu for graciously approving the establishment of a Faculty of Medicine in the state-owned tertiary institution.

Conveying the Association's gratitude and commendation to the governor, its President, Comrade Eyam Abeng, said the development highlights the present administration's fulfilment of its campaign promises to prioritise the improvement of education for Cross Riverians by revitalising existing structures and infusion of new innovations for the betterment of the sector.

Abeng further stated that the newly approved Faculty of Medicine, when in force, would be a great feat and an eloquently testimony to the institution's new status as a full-fledged university, adding that in the coming years, the state-owned varsity would adequately address the manpower deficit plaguing Cross River's healthcare system by churning out competent medical professionls.

He also thanked the governor for the massive intervention in the school's road infrastructure. The President expressed optimism that the recent development was a sign of better things for the University of Cross River State, quipping that the present administration's people first mantra is truly living up to its billing through its people-centric policies.

The Obubr-born Unionist, who pledged Alumni's unflinching support to the Governor Otu-led administration, also appealed tto he state government to consider upward review of subvention to the institution, as well as appoint Alumni of UNICROSS into leadership positions, noting that graduates of the institution have been making the State proud in different human endeavour both nationally and internationally.
