Umo Eno Hints at Possible Defection, Likens PDP to a Faulty Aircraft

By Missang AKPET

The Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Pastor Umo Eno, on Tuesday described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a faulty aircraft, thereby raising speculations of his possible defection from the party.

Umo Eno, who was speaking at a town square meeting in Ukanafun/Oruk Anam federal constituency, said what the people of Akwa Ibom need is good governance and not the name of a political party.

“If you wanted to travel with Ibom Airline, and on the verge of taking off, it developed a fault that won’t enable it to fly, wouldn’t you board the next available plane to take you to your destination?

“Whether Ibom Air or Air Peace, board the flight that is ready to take you to your destination. Board the flight and forget the name of the airline.”

The PDP is now fragmented and risks grinding to a halt before the 2027 elections.

“I urge you to continue your support for his administration and its commitment to delivering on campaign promises,” the governor said.

The governor’s remarks have raised a lot of speculation, with political pundits believing that the governor will be joining the All Progressives Congress soon.

It could be recalled that earlier, in an event in Akwa Ibom state, Governor Eno openly declared his support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
