Gov Otu Commends CRIRS For Improving State Revenue Profile

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has commended the Cross River Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for significantly improving the revenue profile of the State.
The governor, who gave the commendation, Thursday, while presenting the state's 2024 Appropriate Bill before the House of Assembly, revealed that through its renewed revenue drive, the State IRS under Prince Edwin Okon, had elevated the state's internally generated revenue indices by an impressive 21%, with the hope of further improvements in the near future.
"Presently, the State IRS, through its renewed revenue drive, has increased the state's internally generated revenue profile by 21%. This is a commendable feat," said Governor Otu.
He congratulated Prince Edwin Okon, the Acting Executive Chairman of the Cross River Internal Revenue Service, for the significant achievement and urged the agency to live up to the billing of upping the percentage in 2024. Governor Otu stressed on the need to address revenue leakages as well as harness revenue-generating opportunities across various government functionaries.
The governor's plaudits accentuate the State IRS's commitment to increasing the state's revenue base with a view to impacting on every strata of state's socio-economic life.
The 2024 Appropriation Bill, titled "The People First Budget," lays emphasis on the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ranging from infrastructure, education, health, environment, agriculture, youth and sports development, tourism, and general administration, all aimed at bettering the lots of Cross Riverians.
