GLITZ AND GLAMOUR AS SENATOR NWEBONYI ATTENDS THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF BERWO-PET PROJECT OF EBONYI STATE GOVERNOR’S WIFE

The deluxe Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki was filled to the brim on November 15, 2023 by various support groups, women and youth organizations, captains of industries, diplomatic corps, former Governors, serving and former Senators, Federal House of Representative and State House of Assembly Members, traditional rulers, CAN, founding fathers and top government functionaries including the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Right Honourable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru during the official flag-off of the Better Life for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Foundation- a pet project of the amiable wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Mrs Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru.
The Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Senator and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial district, Distinguished Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi was among the dignitaries who graced the grand occasion of the official launching of the Better Life for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Foundation- a brainchild of the wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Mrs Mary-Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru.
Senator Nwebonyi poured encomiums on Her Excellency for her passionate commitments to the welfare of the vulnerable population. He said that the first lady has been waging war against Gender Based Violence, Female Genital Mutilation, hunger, disease and illiteracy. In his words:
“ Let me sincerely commend the amiable wife of my governor and mother of the state, Chief Mrs Mary-Madauline Uzoamaka Nwifuru on this laudable initiative to reach out to the downtrodden in the society. It’s rare to find leaders who are passionately committed to the cause of the underprivileged like your Excellency, wife of the governor. As a Federal Lawmaker, I will continue to move motions and sponsor bills that align with your good vision for Ebonyi state and Nigeria in general.”
The irrepressible Legislator gave assurances of his maximum support to the success of BERWO. He extolled the State Governor, Right Honourable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on his superlative performance in the office and assured of his cooperation, synergy and support to all the policies and programmes of the state government.
The highpoint of the occasion was the official launching of the BERWO project kick-started by the Chief launcher, Chief Chibuike Orogwu. Senator Nwebonyi later made a donation of five million naira in support of the project. They were goodwill messages from the Speaker House of Representatives, Minister for Works, and the Wives of the Governors of Ogun, Imo and Cross River states among other dignitaries who donated generously to support the pet project.
