Ebonyi State Assembly Collaborate With Education Stakeholders To Improve Standard

The Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Education has concluded its meeting with critical stakeholders in E
educational sector across  the three senatorial zones.

Speaking at Ebonyi Central Zone meeting held at Onueke,  the Chairman of the committee and member representing Ebonyi North west, Barr. Aloysius Nwodo, said the meeting became necessary to seek collaboration with the critical stakeholders in education sector to improve standard of education in Ebonyi state. 

Nwodo said primary and secondary education system required emergency intervention to address the challenges confronting effective delivery of basic education in the state and disclosed that a joint special task force will soon be set up to see effective and efficient performance in the sector. 

The Committee Chairman said the only way to support the People’s Charter of Needs Programme of the state government in the educational sector is to improve upon the standard and be more proactive in dealing with the challenges faced in the sector. 

Other members of Committee who spoke including Mr. Friday Ogbuewu, representing Ezza South, Mr. Good luck Obinna Mbam representing Izzi East, Mr. Abiri Godwin representing Izzi West and Hon. Victor Nwoke representing Abakaliki North said basic education delivery is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders.

The added that the meeting primarily was on how to address the gaps in the educational sector. 

In their separate speeches, the Chairman of Ezza North local government area and chairman ALGON Ebonyi State, Chief Moses Ogodoali Nome, the Chairman Ezza South Mrs. Euphemia Nwali, the Chairman Ikwo L.G.A, Barr. Sunday Nwankwo, and Education Secretary Ezza South, Pastor Daniel Onye Eze, listed the challenges faced in the sector to include inefficiency of teachers, non conformity to school establishment guidelines.

They said  the problems of education sector can only be effectively addressed by the readiness and collaboration of the local actors and communities.
