CRIRS, FRSC Strengthen Synergy On Data Sharing

In a major step to ensuring that the Cross River State's over one hundred thousand dormant tax payers are properly captured in the tax net, the Cross River Internal Revenue Service and one of its major stakeholders, the Federal Road Safety Corps have strengthened ties to optimally share data which will be beneficial to both organizations.

The decision, which is an added advantage in boosting revenue generation and addressing insecurity, was reached yesterday when the Cross River Internal Revenue Service Acting Executive Chairman, Prince Edwin Okon received the new Federal Road Safety Corps, State Sector Corps Commander Istifanus Andesaba Ibrahim, at his office in Calabar.

According to Prince Okon, data in any sector is critical which, when analytically reviewed and managed properly, brings about transparency, equips efficiency navigation, promotes growth and increases profitability especially in the reactivation of the State's dormant tax payers and support national security.

Also, the IRS boss pledged to maintain and sustain the excellent relationship the Service has with FRSC, hinting that plans are underway for top management personnel to be co-opted into the FRSC Special Marshals.

The Federal Road Safety Corps' State Sector Corps Commander, Istifanus Andesaba Ibrahim, lauded the Service for deeming it necessary to work with stakeholders such as the FRSC, positing that synergies are dynamic ways of bringing innovation into progess.

He said the data collected in the line of duty tremendously helps in national security, which he emphasized is the understructure of the economic development of any nation.

Other matters deliberated include: Motor Licensing Authorities, vehicle registration, driver's license, et cetera.
