The Cross River chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has has frowned at subterranean moves by some persons in the state to tarnish the image of the NASS members through frivolous petition to EFCC.

In a statement by the state publicity secretary, Mr Mike Ojisi, after the party's first quarter State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held in Calabar at the weekend, the party said it is unacceptable for a few disgruntled elements  to petition EFCC asking for investigation into the 2025 Budget with regard to constituency projects attracted by NASS members in the northern senatorial district.

The party restated its commitment to core values and principles of its founding fathers as it work to repositioning the party for future elections.

The party also restated its support to lawmakers of the party at the National Assembly and noted its contributions towards the party, members and constituents  and the citizens of Cross River state.

According to the statement, in spite of its opposition status in the state, the party remained very strong, especially in the northern senatorial district, where it has three elected members, including a Senator in the NASS.

"We urge the lawmakers of the party extraction in the NASS to remain steadfast in their commitment to credible representation.

"They shouldn't be deterred in their persistent efforts to attract dividends of democracy for their people despite being in the opposition Party.

"The SEC, therefore, pass a vote of confidence on Sen. Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe who doubles as the leader of the party in the state, Godwin Offiono, the member representing Ogoja/Yala federal constituency, and Peter Akpanke, of Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku federal constituency.

The party also reaffirmed it continued commitment to the core values of its founding fathers based on an avowed determination to sustain it's commitment to national cohesion and national unity that will birth a new Nigeria of our dreams."

While urging it's members to continue with their support and loyalty ahead of future elections, it pointed out that "there will be light at the end of the tunnel."
